F in Fiji!

WOW!
We are currently in Paradise Cove in Fiji, and truly, it is paradise!
Before I get on to Paradise, let me take a step back to yesterday. We flew from Sydney - it only took us about 4 hours to reach Fiji, but sadly, we landed 5 minutes too late to catch the transfer to our slice of paradise, so we had to book an overnight hotel. I chose the Hotel Capricorn (what3words begs.plot.identifying) - I am a sucker for a pretty promo picture and good reviews.... to be fair, the reviews said it was a clean hotel with super friendly staff and comfy beds - all of that was true....they just did not mention the building works
I did have an embarrassing moment -not a single light worked in our room, with the exception of the bathroom light. We tried everything, all of the switches, all of the sockets - everything. I moseyed on down to the reception to let them know and the lady said 'perhaps the master switch has tripped' and she came with me to look. When we got there she said - 'oh, we do not have any overnight lights, but the bedside lights work'. 'Nope, they don't' quoth I, flicking the switches..... by this point we were using her phone light to see by and she walked over to the bed and flicked a switch only for the light to work! It seems the light switcheswere next to the lights themselves and I had been flicking the socket switches....oops.
We asked for a recommendation for dinner, and she sent us to a little local restaurant called 'Small Plates' (what3words regret.ingenious.hulk) and it was WONDERFUL! So authentic and full of regular Fijian folks having dinner - the food was fab too.
We had an early start this morning so we were up at 6 to get the transfer to the port at 7 - we were not going to miss another transfer! One mad drive later we arrived at the resort boat for the 90 minute transfer to our resort
You can see the clouds in the sky, and it was a bit bumpy - I did think our first day was going to be a write off with the weather, but by the time we arrived and checked in, the clouds disappeared and we were left with clear blue skies - what a great omen.
We were really suprised when we reached our room - the resort had told us they had upgraded our room after I told them it was Emily's birthday tomorrow, and my retirement trip, but this is what we booked

Once we had dumped our stuff we headed off to the beach
taking careful note of the weather forecast
We spent the day swimming, snorkelling on the reef which is just teeming with fish and generally relaxing.
We signed up for 'Champagne Tubing' this afternoon, and it turned out we were the only ones, so we essentially had a private trip! The activity consisted of us being driven in a boat around the island to a cove, loaded into two massive innertubes tied on a line, and handed a glass of champagne each. We chattered on just generally loving life, then Abo (our guide) asked if we wanted a refil - obvs we said yes, so he pulled us in with the line and just handed us the bottle!!! What the heck, we felt like we had hit the lottery -just relaxing with a glass of champers in one hand, the GoPro in the other and the bottle balanced in my lap :)
We are so lucky. We stayed there until sundown - we could see the reef underneath us and the view was to die for - bliss.
Back to the hotel for a shower and change then restaurant booking in the Tapas Restaurant, which is a kind of Asian Fusion place - very yummy.
Over to the bar to end the night to find the band sat on the floor just jamming with the guests - great tunes and everyone was joining in - what a great vibe! What a fabulous day!
Tomorrow is Emily's birthday - I wonder what 29 will bring her....
