Chilled start to the day , with the most sumptuous breakfast. This is what our table looked like before the cooked elements arrived

Not sure if you can see them, but there are little individual jars of home made granola as well as a massive bowl of fresh fruit and yoghurt. Coffee, pancakes with honey and then poached eggs on toast - what a start to the day.

We went to Klipgat Caves this morning, I did have a bit of a struggle clambering over the rocks (why do South Africans seem to have a different measurement for a kilometre, say it takes 10 minutes to walk somewhere when it actually takes half an hour, and any description of an ‘easy’ walk should be taken with a massive grain of rock salt!) but we made it and it was worth the views.

If you have any stress in your life, here is 30 seconds of soothing waves, so relaxing!

This last pic is of Emma leaving me because she thought the tide was coming in and I was being too slow 😂

We made the steep climb back up the rock face (by stairs, but still steep!) and sat at the very top on the viewing platform just watching the sea go by…. And then watching the whales go by! We saw at least 5 of them, and then could not tell if there were more or it was just the same ones swimming about an having their best life.

We were just leaving and were pointing the whales out to a couple with a huge camera, when all of a sudden a couple of whales did full on breaches coming right out of the water 😊 we are blessed!

As I write this we are back in our penthouse making full use of the coffee machine and the balconies, just looking out to sea, looking for more whales - I saw one this morning so fingers crossed.

We are taking a trip on a boat this afternoon to see if we can get closer to them - fingers crossed, update to follow.

Well, we went out on the boat, and we eventually saw whales - mumma and calf and another one. I got some footage on the GoPro, but to be honest the sea was so rough it is making me queasy editing the footage, but Emma got some good pics

it was blinking freezing when we got off the boat, so we hot footed it for pizza and hot chocolate - I even had a hot bath when we got home! Just starting to warm up, talk about 4 seasons in one day!

We had an interesting encounter parking the car in town tonight - a man ran over to us and starting gesticulating at me to put full lock on the steering wheel and put the car in a different position- I gestured to him that I was ok thanks, I k is how to park, and did not need his help - then an official parking attendant turned up and we realised he was trying to tell me that I could only park facing the other way! I was embarrassed and sharp found another place to park - even there there was a parking attendant telling me how to park - he nearly had a canniption when I reversed into the space and everyone else had driven in - well I don’t like to follow the crowd and always put safety first!

We are in for the night now, me sneezing my head off 🥴 but we need an early night as we have a long drive ahead of us as we set off for Knysna tomorrow. We have done everything on our list so far, but we are over half way through our trip and new adventures await!
